Zoom Plug-in v. Add-in Integration for Outlook for Mac OS

On August 8, 2019 Zoom Support sent the following statement to organization administrators regarding the future support of their Zoom Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook for Mac versus the Zoom "Add-in" for Mac versions Outlook. Please read the statement below for the full communication:

Dear Valued Customer,

We are reaching out proactively with key information regarding the Zoom Outlook Plugin for Mac OS. Zoom offers two variations of an Outlook integration: the Zoom Plugin and Zoom Add-In. Both these integrations allow customers to add a Zoom meeting to their Outlook calendar event.

To ensure our customers are getting the best experience while adhering to policies and guidelines set by Apple and Microsoft, Zoom is highly recommending the migration of your users to the Zoom Add-In. The Add-In provides customers with an easier deployment, is actively being supported by Microsoft, and better meets Apple's recently enhanced security requirements.

To accommodate these changes, and to stay in-sync with Microsoft and Apple, we are now shifting our development resources to the Add-In and will not be providing any new updates to the Plugin. We will still continue technical support and security patches of the Zoom Plugin for Mojave OS and its predecessors; however, we will stop development of new features for future Mac OS versions. All new features will be considered for the Zoom Add-In, which has all the features of the current Plugin and is OS-agnostic.

For more information on recommended deployments and a comparison between the Add-In vs. the Plugin, please visit our Knowledge Center.

Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager or our Support Team at support.zoom.us if you have any questions regarding the Zoom Plugin retirement for Mac OS.
