Backup/Restore Request

Service Description

ITS maintains disaster-recovery backups of ITS-managed institutional servers.

Audience

Institutional users required to use only ITS-managed institutional servers for data storage, and institutional users whose data resides on ITS-managed institutional servers and whose personal backup strategy has failed, may make a request to determine if data restoration is feasible.

Service Levels

Backups of ITS-managed institutional servers are designed for disaster recovery only. They have a very limited lifetime, have no archive component, and are not guaranteed to be available for individual file- or directory-level restores. For extra redundancy and for personal file, email, or directory-level restores, individual Mines users are highly encouraged to backup their own data to storage media they personally control.

Service Charges

Normally, none. Extraordinary services related to data recovery may incur a charge.

Requesting the Service

Open a Mines Help Center “Helpdesk” support request using the button located on this page to begin the process of determining the feasibility of a file or directory restore. A member of our Backup Team will contact you.

Support can also be requested by visiting the Technology Support Center (TSC) or calling x2345 or 303-384-2345 during TSC staffed times. In this case, a Student Consultant will take your information.
